The best decision I ever made

Spiritual practice has been a pretty big part of my life since I had my first awakening when I was 14. But it wasn’t until 2011, when my life completely crumbled that I wholeheartedly committed to a daily non-negotiable practice called ‘Sourcing’ after it was introduced to me by one of my teachers Sonia Choquette. Choosing to show up to this practice each day without fail has been single handedly the best decision I have made in my whole entire life.

A dabbler from way back

When it came to spiritual practice I used to be a total dabbler. I threw myself into loads of different practices, but I’d often feel overwhelmed with all of the options and things that I “could” or “should” be doing. Meditating, cutting cords, intuitive dancing, morning paging, artist dating, mandala making, affirming, eft’ing, journaling, yoga, channeled writing, chanting, standing on my head while singing…you name it I gave it a whirl. The list was never ending; it felt like I needed a whole extra life to get it all done. And because I didn’t have a solid routine of showing up every day, when I had a super crappy or busy day, my spiritual practice was the first thing to fall to the side. The bonkers thing was that the days I let my practice slide were always the days that I needed it the most.

Learning to Source

So a couple of years ago when my life hit the fan and got chopped up into a million or maybe even a billion pieces, I made a pact to myself to SHOW UP EVERY SINGLE DAY WITHOUT FAIL. Non-negotiable spiritual practice. In my aha moment I resisted making it 1 hour or even 30 mins because I wanted to make sure it was something that I could do every single day of my life.

From the very first moment I Light Sourced, I had the most amazing feeling of coming home. It was so familiar. And the craziest thing: when I was a little girl I used to Source in bed or while I was at the beach without even knowing I was doing it.

To me, Light Sourcing is a form of meditation where you put yourself into ultimate receiving mode. It’s an ultimate prayer of surrender, where you connect back with the universal Source energy of all things and allow yourself to rest, be filled up and receive all of the gifts that The Universe has for you. To allow yourself to receive all of the gifts that you already have within you. It helps us connect to the amazing energy that is on offer to us at all times (but often we look outside of ourselves to find it).

All you need to do Light Source is open your heart, breathe and receive. When we Source we open ourselves up to the unlimited universal energies of divine love, light and truth. You connect with your higher self and allow yourself to be filled up with whatever it is that you need. For less than 15 minutes, you hand over the things that you are striving for, struggling with, trying to heal and allow yourself to be replenished by the never ending supply of source energy.

I start by rubbing my hands together (activating the heart chakra). I then rest my hands palm up on my lap, noticing the subtle pulse that has been activated in the center of my palms. I imagine a beautiful channel of white light streaming down from the heavens into the crown of my head. I allow this bright supporting light to fill up my entire being and open my heart. I hand over all of my concerns, worries, struggles, goals, hopes, dreams and any darkness to be replenished by the light. I breathe and I receive. I breathe and I allow myself to be supported. I breathe and I allow myself to be filled up. I breathe and I allow myself to be nurtured. I breathe and I allow myself to come home.

You don’t need to worry about your mind being quiet or sitting still for hours, all you need to do is to open your heart, breathe and receive the beautiful energy washing over and into you from the heavens.

I’m a big believer in morning practice as sleep is one big meditation and then if we practice as soon as we wake up we can maximize this high frequency (rather than reaching straight for our phones and switching into our minds/fear energies). Most mornings I walk up to Regents Park and sit in the rose garden to Source. I love Sourcing in nature, but you can do it from anywhere you like. Your bedroom, the bath, your car. When I was working in a heaving advertising office, I would sometimes do it from the ladies toilets! If I have an early morning reading or mentoring session I light a candle at my Altar, sit on my meditation stool and Source from there. I’ve done it on airplanes, trains, busses, pretty much anywhere I can find to make sure I show up to it each day.

Enhances intuition. Raises your vibration. Gently opens your heart. Makes you feel supported and nurtured. Gives you a feeling of peace and grace. Stops you looking outside of yourself for answers. Gives you the opportunity to connect with your inner guru. Gives you the experience of coming home to yourself. Stops you looking to other people to fill yourself up. Aids a feeling of being more connected with life and the world. Makes you a nicer person to be around because you are all filled up. Makes you less ‘needy’. You have loads more to give to others. Helps you make decisions without doubting them. Helps you to show up to your relationships and job whole. Increases creativity. Gives you the opportunity to empty all the crap you are carrying out so it can be replaced with the good stuff. Teaches you to surrender. Brings more joy and happiness. (I reckon it) makes you hotter and it reduces your wrinkles. Makes you a better friend and lover. Enhances sexual energy and intimacy (as you’re tapping into the stream of divine love, hello Shakti). Loads more awesomeness
